Private-server problems often look identical from the player's side. The Join button fails, the link opens the wrong place, or Roblox says the account does not have permission. The fix depends on which layer is blocking the connection.
CHECK 1
Make sure the server still exists
Paid private servers renew monthly unless the owner cancels them. A canceled server normally remains available until the paid period ends, then expires. Open the game's Servers section and confirm the private server is still listed and active.
CHECK 2
Check the owner's access list
The owner can allow connections from friends or add individual accounts. Roblox says up to 50 users can be selected individually. Confirm that the joining account is included, or that friend access is enabled and both accounts are actually friends.
CHECK 3
Look at the joining account's privacy settings
The blocked setting may belong to the person joining, not the server owner. Roblox provides a control for who can add an account to private servers. Younger accounts and accounts managed through parental controls may have stricter defaults.
CHECK 4
Create a fresh server link
Do not keep forwarding a link copied months ago. The owner should open the private server configuration, generate or copy the current link, and send it directly. Also make sure the person is signed into the intended Roblox account before opening it.
CHECK 5
Check whether the server is full
A private server still follows the game's server capacity. If the group reaches that limit, another friend may be unable to enter even though the permission settings are correct. Ask one player to leave, then try again.
CHECK 6
Test the public server too
If the friend cannot join the game at all, the problem may be device support, account restrictions, a Roblox outage, or a game-specific error rather than the private server. Joining a public server is a quick way to separate those problems.
CHECK 7
Remember that each game controls its own private-server support
The game creator decides whether private servers are offered and may build different behavior inside them. A private server can load correctly while a teleport, reserved match, or game mode still fails.
FASTEST ORDER
Check active server, owner access, account privacy, fresh link, then capacity.
Those five checks solve most permission problems without randomly changing every privacy option. Test a public server only after the access basics are confirmed.
