The fastest fix depends on whether one game fails or every game fails. Test that first, then work from the Roblox service and app toward the network and device.
STEP 1
Try another Roblox game
If only one game fails, its servers, teleports, or current update may be the problem. If several unrelated games fail, continue with the app and network checks below.
STEP 2
Check Roblox service status
Open the official Roblox status page and look for game-join or platform incidents. Local troubleshooting will not fix a platform-wide outage.
STEP 3
Fully restart and update Roblox
Close Roblox rather than leaving it in the background. Reopen the app and install any available update. Error 280 is the specific outdated-client code, but an incomplete or damaged installation can also interfere with joining.
STEP 4
Restart the connection
Restart the router when possible, move closer to Wi-Fi, or test another trusted network. Roblox recommends at least 4 to 8 Mb/s for a single-use household, but stability matters as much as the advertised speed.
STEP 5
Check firewall, antivirus, and filtering
A firewall, antivirus program, school network, workplace network, VPN, or other third-party filter may block Roblox traffic. Temporarily test without the conflicting tool only when you understand the security impact, then add an appropriate exception instead of leaving protection disabled.
STEP 6
Clear or reinstall the app
If the failure continues across games, clear Roblox app data where your operating system supports it or uninstall and reinstall Roblox. This replaces damaged local files and installs the current version.
STEP 7
Make sure the device is supported
Roblox does not support virtual machines, cloud computers, or mobile devices using altered or unofficial operating systems. A supported device and current operating system are required before network fixes will help.
