Roblox Error Code 524: You Do Not Have Permission to Join

Error 524 usually means Roblox cannot confirm that your account is allowed into that specific game or private server.

Error 524 is different from a general connection failure. Start with access and privacy settings before reinstalling Roblox or changing your whole network.

STEP 1

Confirm whether the server is private

Ask the server owner whether the link points to a private or VIP server. The owner may need to add your exact username to the member list or enable connections. A forwarded link does not override the server access list.

STEP 2

Check your private-server privacy setting

Open Roblox Settings, Privacy and content restrictions, Visibility and private servers, then Private servers. Choose an allowed option for who can add your account to a private server. Accounts under 13 have stricter limits and can only join private servers created by their connections.

STEP 3

Check the owner’s member list

The owner should open the server configuration and verify that your current account is included. Also confirm that both users are connected if the server relies on connection access rather than a direct member entry.

STEP 4

Look for group-only or game-specific access

Some games are limited to members of a Roblox community, testers, staff, or players who meet an internal requirement. Join the required community or ask the creator whether access is currently restricted.

STEP 5

Try a public server

If a public server works but the private server fails, the problem is almost certainly permission or private-server availability. If public servers also fail, use the Error 279 connection checklist instead.

STEP 6

Create a fresh link and try again

The owner should copy the current server link directly from the server configuration. Sign into the intended account before opening it. Old links, the wrong account, browser sessions, or an expired server can make a valid invitation look broken.

STEP 7

Check temporary server or device problems

Roblox also lists temporary server availability, unstable internet, browser issues, and device glitches as possible causes. Restart Roblox, check the official status page, and try another supported network or device after permission settings are confirmed.
